Welcome to the Chiltern Pantry.

My name is Alison, I am never happier than when at home cooking on our Aga. The Chiltern Pantry is truly a labour of love for me!

After running a luxury ice cream company, following various other various careers as an antiques dealer and working at Marks and Spencer’s head office, I realised I wasn’t quite ready to retire yet and settle into life as a grandmother with a growing number of grandchildren.

As many others did, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I questioned what I really wanted to do in life, from which The Chiltern Pantry was born!

From an early age I have always loved cooking and baking for others. I love the traditional British favourites that leave you satisfied and full, made with only fresh high-quality ingredients and nothing artificial. This ethos guides everything I make for my customers!

It all started with making jam and marmalade for local farm shops and on Etsy in autumn 2020. Things really took off that Christmas, and I was delighted and encouraged by some wonderful feedback from customers.

From there, I branched out into gift-wrapped homemade traditional British cakes, made individually to order. I’m always experimenting with new recipes and adding to the range, so keep your eyes peeled.

The Dundee cake is the first cake I ever made for a customer, and it remains our best-seller. It is available as both a vegan and gluten-free option to cater for all. I make just one at a time, and all the eggs are from our very own flock of rescue duck and hens.

We are very fortunate to live in a beautiful old Georgian farmhouse with a big Aga in the kitchen, so cooking is an absolute pleasure. Everything is made on the Aga - I am at my happiest with a big jam pan bubbling away on the top and a cake baking in the oven below!
