Guiness, Date & Ginger Large Loaf Cake

Guinness, Date & Ginger large loaf cake. A moist and flavoursome cake, drizzled with Guinness, home made and baked in the Farmhouse Aga.
 
Unusual Date and Ginger cake, made with, and drizzled with Guinness! Everyone knows a Lemon Drizzle cake - but for this drizzle cake you need to think outside the box!

A lovely moist cake, using stem ginger, chopped finest dates and exotic spices, all bound together in original rich Guinness. Baked for an hour in the Farmhouse Aga, and when when still warm, drizzled with more Guinness. Also made with eggs from our own rescue ducks and chickens, who live a very pampered life and are free to roam.

Just a warning - this can be quite a sticky cake, so you may need napkins at the ready!

The cake weighs over one kilogram and will serve 10-12. It is sufficiently moist to be eaten on its own, but if you want to be really decadent, serve with creme fraiche or clotted cream ( to mimic the head on Guinness). This cake is best eaten 2-3 days after cooking, when all the flavours have had time to mature, so by the time you receive it it should be in prime condition for consumption!. It will keep well in an airtight tin in a cool room for another week after receipt.
